It is with great pleasure that we wish to announce our newly appointed Director of the Australian Burlesque Museum – Miss Alyssa Kitt.
Alyssa will be responsible for the strategic direction of the Australian Burlesque Museum including implementing and planning national campaigns, exhibitions and educational pursuits. Alyssa has been a pillar of the burlesque community in Australia, a leader both on and offstage as a performer, teacher and producer. With a background as a trained historian, journalist, writer and editor, she holds a Bachelor of Journalism (1st class honours), a Bachelor of Arts (double major in history) and recently graduated from the University of Sydney with a Master of Publishing. With her in depth knowledge of Australian burlesque, her passion for community outreach and involvement we are honoured to have her at the helm as she steers the museum in a new direction.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our founding director, Bella de Jac, and to recognise her generous contributions to the Australian Burlesque community in establishing Museum. Without her tireless work the Museum it would not be what it is today. Bella will be continuing her work with the Museum as Co-Director, managing the Museum’s archival work and supporting the new team.
