Lola The Vamp

"The PhD"

Lola the Vamp is without a doubt a true Icon of Burlesque. The first to dance burlesque for PhD & voted into 8 Hottest Burlesque Stars of all Time! As seen on & Huffington Post,
Penthouse Pet, Tease-o-rama, Australian Burlesque Festival and Perth International Burlesque Festival Headliner.

Lola has been integral to the development of the Australian burlesque revival since her debut in 2002, inspiring the opening of several of the very first burlesque clubs, as well as emerging performers and audiences alike. She is featured in the two seminal books of the contemporary burlesque era and released her first single, Ma Cherie, last year.

We are very excited to be presenting an unique snapshot into Lola's extensive contributions to Australian Burlesque history.

Lola will be giving a special talk & photo signing on the 5th of December during our exhibition.

Gypsy Wood

"The Second Generation Superstar"

Named after that great icon of tease - "Gypsy Rose Lee", Gypsy Wood was born to perform.

She starred in the sell out Strut n’ Fret production of 'Feasting on Flesh' at the Sydney Opera House featuring Gotye in 2006. Since then Gypsy went on to star in numerous shows all over the globe, from jumping out of a giant cake at Bob Hawke's 80th birthday party at the Opera House in Sydney to splashing around in fake blood in the dirty quire fetish clubs of New York. Hosting her own Gypsy Wood game show, styling vintage sets and shoots to modelling for painters in Paris. Gypsy runs the spectrum from fashion, variety, burlesque to comedy and contemporary performance art.

Time Out named her “The New Queen of Kink” and The London Times “fear some spectators may never recover the full use of their scorched eyeballs”.

We are delighted to be featuring items from Gypsy Wood's glittering career in Burlesque!
