A little mental tease...

Very Nearly Undressed: Dr Lola Speaks...

Dr Lola Montgomery, otherwise known as "Lola The Vamp" brings us a little tease for the mind!

Her PhD in burlesque consisted of a creative performance component and a written thesis. It is the first such PhD submission on burlesque in the world, making theatre history and gaining Lola international recognition in burlesque, academic and media circles. Her presentation for the Icons exhibition will cover the key theoretical terrain she traversed: theatrical mask theory, burlesque history, the subject position of the life drawing model, the ballerina, the body as a living inscriptive surface and burlesque as a performance of the fetish - one that is capable of disrupting our traditional understandings of feminine subjectivity and objectification.

Join Lola on December 5 as she walks is through these areas of her research and how they help us to understand the role of the female burlesque performer in popular culture today.

6pm Saturday 5th Dec
Tickets: $10
Space is strictly limited, book ahead to avoid disappointment.
